Parent STAAR Night

Nettie Marshall’s third through fifth grade teachers hosted a Parent STAAR Night. The purpose of the STAAR night was to give parents information about the upcoming state assessments for their students.

The night consisted of a fun movie for the children while parents attended the informational meeting. As a large group, Principal Durham discussed our school guidelines and how important they are to ensuring our students’ success on the STAAR test. Durham highlighted the importance of GRIT and the high expectations we have for all of our students.

After Durham’s presentation, parents were dismissed to the classrooms where teachers discussed STAAR test sample questions. The parents were able to see questions similar to what their students will be challenged with on the state tests. Parents were also given copies, in Spanish or English, of STEM questions that they can use at home to help their children with their reading skills.

At the end of the informational meetings, everyone was invited back to the cafeteria for a meal and school family time. It was a very informative and fun night! Nettie Marshall thanks all of the parents that attended.
